Overview
Wine Wizards is a small European style bistro and wine bar featuring freshly made soups, sandwiches, salads, quiche, fine wines, specialty teas, coffees and hand selected cheeses. This hidden gem is located on Grand Canal and is a quaint spot to enjoy lunch or get dinner on Friday night before going to the Theatre. Stockton Civic is walking distance away.
The owner, Larry, takes great care of his business and will be happy to serve you and give you wonderful recommendations on wine and cheese pairings. Wine Wizard has a great selection of well priced wines and the food is made from scratch. The fresh vegetables and fruit often come from nearby farms and freshly picked herbs come from the planters in front of the restaurant. Make sure to ask what the special of the day is.

Wine Wizards has been my ultimate favorite place to dine for over 30 years. Since I was two years old, my mother and grandmother every week would have lunch there. We have so many wonderful memories at Wine Wizards. I've enjoyed all the wines, the great food, the atmosphere, and most of all, the service. It has not changed over the years and that is a very rare thing in Stockton. I hope Wine Wizards continues to be open for many years to come.
Here for lunch you will find delicate, gourmet sandwiches, salads, and European-style foods; never oversize or bland. The atmosphere is clean and simple, cozy and charming as you sit surrounded by shelves and boxes of wines from all over the world, specialty wine items, gourmet drinking waters, and just all sorts of interesting stuff...all offered at competitive prices. Coffee is served French pressed, and is finely sourced. One feels as if he/she were dining at a popular neighborhood restaurant on the French Riviera or somewhere in Italy. Oh, and don't forget the Friday night dinners. Get yourself on their Em list and learn about these, special wine tastings and weekly lunch specials. I LOVE this place!
My wife and I love this one of a kind bistro in Stockton. The service is always courteous and given with a smile and the food is freshly made. The light lunches with fresh sandwiches, soups and quiche are delicious. The special Friday dinners make Friday evenings very pleasant and enjoyable. Larry, the owner is the “wine wizard” and is known in the winery community of having a “great nose” for picking out the best wines. Wine Wizard’s monthly wine tasting of 10-15 wines is fun and a bargain costing $10-$15. We’ve been coming for over a decade and feel blessed that we have such a fine establishment in our town.
I've been eating regularly here for decades; there is a very loyal customer base. The daily lunches, Friday night dinners, deserts, cheese selections and eclectic wine selection are all excellent. A cozy, charming restaurant with a very knowledgeable owner, Larry Johansen.
Wow! What an amazing wine selection! You’d have to drive to the Bay Area to get a selection close to Wine Wizards, but you couldn’t duplicate Larry’s knowledge of wines anywhere! Great lunch, Friday night meals and amazing wines!
