Overview
Swenson Park Golf Course is owned by the City of Stockton and opened in 1952. This traditional parkland-style golf course was designed by the popular Northern California golf course architect, Jack Fleming. Swenson Park is known for its beautiful Valley Oaks which come into play on most holes, some of which have been determined to be over two hundred years old. Swenson Park is also known as an easy walking course with lakes coming into play on both golf courses.
Swenson Park Golf Course offers both an 18-hole par-72 championship golf course, as well as an executive 9-hole par-3 course to meet a variety of skill levels. Swenson Park’s 18-hole golf course features 6,407 yards from the longest tees, while the 9-hole par-3 course plays 1,380 yards from its longest tees and is a great starter course for the beginner while affording the accomplished player and excellent tune up facility. Both Van Buskirk and Swenson Park Golf Courses play host to the Men’s and Women’s City of Stockton Golf Championship held annually every summer. Probably the best pure Par 3 course I've ever played in, layout is good, condition is good, also landscape is good, particularly the lakes around Hole 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, plus the nice house 🏠 surrounded by the lake, such an enjoy moment to play short games here. I like particularly Hole 6, 200 yards Par 3, need to tee off across the lake, plus the green is hidden in the back of few big trees, very skeptical design while a lot of fun. The most important thing is that there's a lot of trees provide you the cool and chilling shadows when waiting to tee off of your next hole, lovely.
Sadly for some reason they've gotten greedy.. I guess they got the big head from their $$$$ from the Frisbee tournament..$63 before 2:00? I think you bumped your head. I drive down Ben Holt a lot working.... The last several times there have been nobody on the 11th or 12th hole which is extremely uncommon their pricing their local players out of it and the people that come from out of the area and pay $63 will ask why they paid $63......
1st time visiting, nice local public course. The restaurant good use an upgrade. You should definitely go play a round
I went this weekend for the Professional Disc Golf Tournament. My friend Jeffery McCormick is one of the professionals, and I was able to walk with him and 4 other pros. This isn't our beach Frisbee from years gone by. These guys are so good and amazing to watch. I paid extra for a VIP ticket so I could be on the course. After Jeffery's round, we had lunch and then watched the top disc golfers tee off. In this group was the #1 in the world. The gallery was huge walking behind these 5. It was very cool being that close to these guys. Hearing the disc whizzing by was incredible. Their accuracy was so good, but these guys do this every day. I have a few discs and have been out a couple of times. Sure makes me want to do this more. Even at my age of 66, I feel strong enough to give it a go. Pickleball and Disc Golf should keep me young for a few more years. Swenson is a nice course for Golf. It's been a long time since I golfed here.
