Overview
Located in Lincoln Center, Sho Mi places a premium on details. Adorned with contemporary oil paintings and fresh orchids, this Japanese restaurant's quality also extends to their food. After ordering at the counter, patrons claim a table and are served their selection minutes later. Sushi and sashimi answer the call for sweet, mild seafood, and shumai and edamame make tasty complements. Rice and noodle bowls are also available, along with chicken, pork, salmon, and shrimp prepared a variety of ways. Established in 1995, Shomi has been the staple of Japanese food in Stockton.

The staff were incredibly kind and polite, and the service was impressively quick. I got a seat right away during lunchtime, and the ambiance was welcoming and clean. While I had high hopes, the food didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The sashimi appetizer, unfortunately, lacked flavor, and the chicken karaage didn’t stand out either. That said, it might have just been an off day for the fish, or I may not have ordered their specialty. I’d definitely consider giving them another chance and trying something different on the menu next time.
I love the place, service and food, still getting used to order at front, cause you have to know what you want and don't take to long on the menu and for me, I'm a person that reads all the menu to eat something different every time that I go to a place, I don't like to order the same plate always.
So very delicious! Every roll we ordered was scrumptious. My favorite was the Pacific Sunrise Roll: a little heat and a little sweet!
Update: Monday, June 3, 2024 PM Sushi is good. Service is good. Not so good: Deep fried asparagus. They cut the spears in half length wise. NOT good! I don’t use chopsticks. I had to ask for utensils. I received a PLASTIC fork and spoon! Is this a fast food joint? Try to get a knife to cut your sushi in half so you can get it in your mouth… they had to look around the restaurant to find one. It was all kind of surprising for what I thought was a nice restaurant like ShoMi. ———————- Excellent sushi! Tempura asparagus was OK but be aware they cut the spears in half, lengthwise‼️…really weird. But the price was $7 so you get what you pay for. We were taken aback when we walked in. Weird way of ordering for a restaurant. You either have to order at the counter when you walk in, or if you’re seated, you can scan the QR code on the table and order on the app on your phone. There is no server to take your order and help you in that respect. Once we got past that it was smooth sailing. There is a server in the dining area that refills your drinks and takes away the empty plates. That went well. Our drinks were always filled! We tried three or four different types of sushi and all were EXCELLENT. This could possibly be our favorite local sushi spot. The prices are reasonable. We are looking forward to returning!
