Overview
Oakdale Cheese & Specialties has been making hand crafted Gouda cheese in the Holland tradition for generations! On Mondays and Tuesdays, Oakdale Cheese starts the 11 week process of making Gouda. Come visit and enjoy various flavors of national award winning cheeses, savor a delicious grilled cheese sandwich, browse the gift shop and stroll through the beautiful grounds. Young and old alike delight in feeding the farm animals and relaxing on the shaded lawn and picnic tables.
Oakdale Cheese & Specialties also offers tours. Come by and learn more about the process and the people. Oakdale Cheese happily welcomes visitors to enjoy a complimentary self-guided tour of the facility. For groups larger than 10, please call 209-848-3139 at least three days in advance to make arrangements for a hosted tour. For groups larger than 10 people enjoying lunch at Oakdale Cheese, in addition to the grilled cheese, special order lunches are available. Order must be placed 48 hours in advance. The ladies that work here are amazing. They are cheese all just stop by grab a cup of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. You will not be disappointed and they have a bunch of Koi fish and a little water fountain. It’s a cool little spot to stop on your long drive thank you ladies.
Phenomenal grilled cheese ($4.50 at time of writing) and tomato soup ($4). Beautiful setting with fountains, farm animals you can buy feed for, friendly cats and staff. Gift shop is thoughtfully stocked with very cute Christmas and local goods. Would recommend this rest stop!
Always great to stop in, taste all the different free samples. Best gouda cheese I've ever had. They also make awesome grilled cheese with Gouda for a great snack when you're visiting. The grounds are always kept nice and a beautiful place to visit.
Great place to take the kids. They played a video to show them the process of making cheese. We were told they make cheese on Tuesday and Wednesday. Great views along the ponds and get to feed the animals. Staff is awesome 💯 % recommend to visit
Great little shop with gifts drinks snacks and lots and lots of delicious cheese. We had grilled cheese sandwiches that were absolutely wonderful. Also bought a couple different flavors of Gouda that we have really enjoyed. They also have a viewing window so you can see how the cheese is made and aged.
