Overview
Located in Stockton's Lincoln Center, Market Tavern is made up of 2 sides: a full-service restaurant/bar and food market. Market Tavern sprang from the single premise of offering the best prepared and fresh foods, locally sourced whenever possible. Market Tavern features farm-fresh ingredients across all menu items. The restaurant’s soft-lit interior, open-style kitchen and mirror-lined bar make for an ambiance that is both classic and cozy.
The food follows suit. Its wood-burning oven bakes up traditional style Neapolitan pizzas, while the wood-fueled grill and rotisserie cook a variety of organic and naturally raised meats. Starters, soups, salads, sides and sweets round out the menu, which also features signature cocktails, wine and beer.
The market offers shoppers fresh meats; an alphabet of fresh produce – ranging from artichokes to zucchini; and local cheeses, olives oils and wines. House-baked bread and cookies, restaurant-prepared entrees and ready-made sandwiches make it easy to put together a lunch on-the-go or a gourmet take-out dinner.

We were a party of 6 which included teenagers and a younger child. All of us enjoyed the plates we chose. The low dinner lighting was nice. From where we sat you can see the pizza oven which was really awesome. Several beer selections. Several options in the menu and kids menu too. The waitress checked on us regularly. We do not live in Stockton and traveled a little over an hour to dine. Well worth the travel ✨
I ordered the steak and it was cooked beautifully. However, after tasting my family's entrees, I was surprisingly disappointed in theirs, believing I ordered the best thing on the menu. The pesto sauce wasn't very flavorful, the vegetarian lasagna wasn't seasoned enough, nor was the meat lasagna. They do make their own pastas And breads, and nothing tasted Frozen. The house made sodas were a surprising delight. Several specialty cocktails, all beautifully garnished! Our table ordered just about everything on the menu. The deviled eggs were by far my favorite! The service was just okay. I was expecting a bit more attention to detail and And overall friendlier experience, especially since we were dining the weekend after Thanksgiving. The decor was warm and welcoming. Large Christmas tree hit the entry. Dark wood lighting. Perfect. Not too dark. Not too bright. I would definitely give it a try. I would recommend for a larger gatherings . There is a private dining area available that looked very cozy. Overall, I would recommend trying it for lunch to see if the menu is right for you , before investing in a large party dinner. The location's great! Afterward My family and I went axe throwing which was a lot of fun.
Market Tavern was the perfect spot for a fun evening with friends. The three of us enjoyed incredible dishes like wood-fired pizza and braised short ribs, paired with craft cocktails and local brews. The atmosphere was warm and modern, with a lively vibe that made us feel right at home. Fun fact: Market Tavern is known for sourcing fresh, local ingredients, and their bread is baked in-house daily. The staff was attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. A minor downside? It was a bit loud during peak hours, but it didn’t overshadow the great food and drinks. We’ll definitely be back!
Absolutely enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich! Service was great. Will definitely come back.
The food was ABSOLUTELY delicious. The cornbread is the best I've ever had, and the Alaskan Halibut was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food does not disappoint. The service was ok. The water ran out at the table and we had to ask for refills. That being said, the servers and hostess were very pleasant.
