Overview
Located in Stockton's Lincoln Center, Market Tavern is made up of 2 sides: a full-service restaurant/bar and food market. Market Tavern sprang from the single premise of offering the best prepared and fresh foods, locally sourced whenever possible. Market Tavern features farm-fresh ingredients across all menu items. The restaurant’s soft-lit interior, open-style kitchen and mirror-lined bar make for an ambiance that is both classic and cozy.
The food follows suit. Its wood-burning oven bakes up traditional style Neapolitan pizzas, while the wood-fueled grill and rotisserie cook a variety of organic and naturally raised meats. Starters, soups, salads, sides and sweets round out the menu, which also features signature cocktails, wine and beer.
The market offers shoppers fresh meats; an alphabet of fresh produce – ranging from artichokes to zucchini; and local cheeses, olives oils and wines. House-baked bread and cookies, restaurant-prepared entrees and ready-made sandwiches make it easy to put together a lunch on-the-go or a gourmet take-out dinner.

Market Tavern was the perfect spot for a fun evening with friends. The three of us enjoyed incredible dishes like wood-fired pizza and braised short ribs, paired with craft cocktails and local brews. The atmosphere was warm and modern, with a lively vibe that made us feel right at home. Fun fact: Market Tavern is known for sourcing fresh, local ingredients, and their bread is baked in-house daily. The staff was attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. A minor downside? It was a bit loud during peak hours, but it didn’t overshadow the great food and drinks. We’ll definitely be back!
The food was ABSOLUTELY delicious. The cornbread is the best I've ever had, and the Alaskan Halibut was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food does not disappoint. The service was ok. The water ran out at the table and we had to ask for refills. That being said, the servers and hostess were very pleasant.
Omg...delicious on every level. Just go. We ordered the cut of the day which was a well prepared ribeye in addition to a slew of other items (apps, drinks, desserts), and ALL of it was amazingly and thoughtfully prepared. Service was busy on a Sunday afternoon, but consistent and attentive throughout the whole dining experience. l would definitely return if we head back to Stockton...thank you!
I come here every so often and the food never disappoints. Great place for a date night, setting is low dim lights and atmosphere is great. Drinks are a must. My recommendations are : The Gordita pizza, furikake fries, pesto pasta with chicken and 3 cheese lasagna (add chicken). Service has always been exceptional up until my last visit. I came with a friend for dinner and our sever was not attentive, it sort of felt like we were ordering at a fast food counter and when asked for recommendations she answered uninterested. I noticed she was also a bartender since it's an open bar and we can see her put drinks together. When it came to the check we left our card in the glass jar and had to wait 15 minutes before she came to pick it up. We could understand if it was busy but we could see her talking to another woman behind the bar the whole time. Service is always exceptional so it was really disappointing especially when I was introducing this place to my friend as it was her first time.
