Not familiar with Stockton, I googled the area and this location had good ratings. Didn't disappoint. Good authentic food, welcoming and kind staff, good prices. Had the menudo, huevos rancheros with the chicana, chilaquiles with scrambled eggs, and chorizo with huevos. Horchata was very good and authentic. Very yummy and filling.
Great food. They have home-made chips and salsa and tortillas. Reasonable prices. Only complaint is that there is a lot of fat in the cocido lately.
I very much enjoyed my meal at Maria's Cafe because it's exactly what I went there for which was the machaca. I had to take the train into Stockton and had some time to kill before my next event and was looking for some decent Mexican food and Maria's was the place to find it. It's in kind of a tough neighborhood downtown in Stockton but there was no problems there the service was friendly and warm if not maybe a little inexperienced so, easy to forgive, assuming that the service will improve. The beans the rise the tortillas everything was absolutely delicious and absolutely worth the reasonable price that they charge for it
Delicious! Every time I visit Stockton, I make sure to stop by Maria's for lunch. Amazing simple food, affordable, and lovely service.
