Overview
The Dancing Fox is Lodi’s only urban winery combining two passions, bread and wine. The wines are made from the Lewis family estate vineyards and the breads use the natural yeast from these grapes. The breads are hand formed then baked in a wood fired oven from Spain, sold fresh every day.
The bakery and eatery provides more than just breads. Pastries, muffins, health bars, breakfast, lunch and dinner are also offered. The wood fired pizza is second to none when washed down by wine or a pint of ale.
Tasting fee: $10 waived upon any wine bottle purchase.
We pour 5 wines that we have chosen for that week.
Groups larger than 8 need to call ahead for appointment.

As a fairly regular customer, I do love their Orion Pizza! Their sandwiches are wonderful tasting and very filling, so I had brought someone new to the Fox to try them. I was sadly surprised to find they do not serve sandwiches after 3:00pm (?) but I did not know this and we came at dinner time. I had checked the online menu in advance, and it directs me to view the online ordering for menu items. It does not say these items are not actually available for dinner hours. And the dinner menu was greyed out anyways. Their dinner menu prices are much higher. I was given a recommendation to try the Chicken Pot Pie, which I generally love; so I did, and if I can say, while it looked beautiful on the plate, I thought it was horrid! No gravy/sauce, just mashed potato filling, a bit flavorless and very little actual chicken was to be found.. I had a few bites, then took the rest home and my little dog loved it with his kibble for the next few days! I guess I will have to stick with their lunch offerings and delicious pizza from now on.
Carne asada tacos, brick oven taratata pizza, and sliders for the kids. This isn't a kid friendly place unless your kids sit still. The atmosphere is geared more towards date nights. We chose it because we were meeting as a family for a wedding. I apologize to the staff for some of our rambunctious members. Despite our big group the server did his best to serve us. They have one vegan meal and can turn the pizza into dairy free versions. But my dad said the ribs are the best. Perfectly cooked. They are lacking in gluten-free but can make a few things safely.
Very nice place to eat. The waiter was excellent. Food was good. Only thing I didn't like was that I ordered a salad with my sandwich and I got 2 big cores with it. Kinda disappointed me. It's such a turn off. But I'll be back.
We came on Sunday, table for 5. It was about 1 hr wait. Service was ok, it took a while for us to get a server to serve us some water. We ordered a bottle of wine and shared the Orion pizza, wings, southwest salad, tri tip sandwich & fish and chips. It took about 15 minutes for us to receive our bottle of wine. The food was ok, wings were overcooked and dry, Orion pizza wasn't anything special, tri tip sandwich was dry too. We did enjoy the fish and chips and southwest salad. But I probably won't be back, service wasn't great.
