Your Road Trip Guide to Stockton, California's Outdoor Parks
Here’s your detailed tour guide for some of the parks you should visit on a trip to Stockton, California.
As Summer approaches and our county enjoying the lifting of some restrictions, our beautiful regional and county parks are ready to welcome you in. Pack you day trip garb, hit the road, and make your way to these beautiful recreational havens in and around Port City.
Oak Grove Regional Park
Located at the Eight Mile Road exit off of I-5, the former home of the San Joaquin County Asparagus Festival houses a multitude of recreational activities. Visitors are given access to a 10-acre lake where they can enjoy some fun on the water with paddleboat and aqua cycles available for rent on weekends for April to October. Moreover, the Oak Grove Nature Center contains educational programs and exhibits detailing the flowers native to the park and San Joaquin Valley.
Micke Grove Regional Park
This historic 132-acre park resides on Micke Grove Road just south of Armstrong road. Home to a three-acre lake with a 40 ft. water fountain, Micke Grove houses the Micke Grove Zoo, the beautiful Japanese Garden, and the San Joaquin County Historical Museum. Additionally, it is stock full of rental facilities with outdoor picnic shelters, indoor facilities for receptions and events, softball fields, horseshoe pits, children’s playgrounds, disc golf course, barbecue grills , and water-play accommodations.
Kennedy Park & Center
On D street off of Farmington road, Kennedy Park & Center provides over 17 acres of wide open space made for those seeking a spot to hit a few balls or just sitting back for an outdoor lunch. Kennedy park houses a three baseball fields, a basketball court, a swimming pool, playground for the kids, and picnic shelters and tables with barbecue grills.
Boggs Tract Park & Center
Sitting on just under three acres off of Los Angeles Ave., this neighborhood park offers a lot for it’s smaller size. Blending recreation with gardening, Boggs offers a basketball court, baseball field, children’s playground, picnic tables, barbecues, as well as a community farm and center open Monday thru Friday, 8am - 5pm.
